Our desires are often the intersection of emotion, physical ability and our unique physiology which changes as we age. The Sex and Energy Module attempts to provide us the keys in optimizing our health. A range of biomarkers are used to evaluate whether or not our biomarkers in this area are optimal. Optimal biomarkers in this area are essential to boost our energy and sexual desire. Sex hormones are important for both the developm‭ent of physical differences between men and ‬women (secondary sex characteristics) and repro‭duction. Both “male” and “female” sex hormones ‬are present in men and women, but the levels ‭differ. For women, the levels will also differ ‬depending on menopausal status. Hor‭mone levels can indicate normal ‬signs of aging, fertility status, hormone supplementation, disease, and more.‬‬‬‬ For men, low levels of testosterone occur naturally as they age, the so-called “menopause.”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

In addition to measuring male and female hormones, we will also look at the hormones released from the brain that provide the sex organs the necessary stimuli for optimal hormone production.

Although sex hormones, or dysfunctional brain signaling to the sex organs, may cause fatigue and loss of energy, the Sex and Energy Module also evaluates thyroid function with particular attention paid to optimizing the active thyroid hormone called free T3. The Sex and Energy Module will also assess iron stores by measuring its transport protein called ferritin and it will also evaluate the function of the bone marrow by looking at a complete blood count.

The Sex and Energy Module also measures AM Cortisol. Cortisol‭ is an important steroid hormone that re‭gulates numerous body systems, including the ‬‬‬‬response to infection and inflammation, blood sugar,‭ and bone metabolism. It‭ is often referred to ‬‬as the “stress hormone” because it increases blood ‭pressure and blood sugar, and reduces immune ‬response. It is made in the adrenal gland and can be an excellent marker of adrenal fatigue.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

In most healthy people, the Sex and Energy Module should be evaluated annually. If abnormalities are noted in the module it is recommended that the module be repeated in 3 months after intervention to assess for improvement.
